ParcelHunt is committed to making our app usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are the widely accepted standard for accessible websites.
What we've done
- Every screen was tested with the axe accessibility checker against WCAG 2.1 A and AA, in light and dark themes, on desktop and phone sizes. As of October 29, 2026, no issues were found.
- Text and buttons meet minimum color contrast.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard: tab to any control, and press Enter on a property's title to open it. Keyboard focus is always visible.
- Buttons, filters, tabs and calendar days have labels that screen readers announce.
- Information shown by color, such as sale type on the map or calendar, is also given in text.
- Pages work when zoomed to 200% and on small screens.
Known limitations
- The map is mainly a visual tool. Map markers can't be reached with a keyboard or screen reader. Every property on the map is also in the Properties list, and the County filter selects counties, so you can find everything without the map.
- Map backgrounds and wetland and property-line layers come from outside government and mapping services and may not meet every guideline.
- County documents we link to, such as PDFs and newspaper notices, are produced by the counties and may not be accessible.
- Automated testing catches only some problems. We're continuing to test with screen readers and will fix what we find.
